Adoption

Introduction to our Adoptable Dogs and Cats

While our primary mission has been, from the beginning, to pull dogs with emotional and behavioral issues from local shelters (and then rehabilitate them), we have several already adoptable animals who arrived here in a variety of other ways. Because (quite frankly) when I first got seriously involved in rescue, I was “all over the place”. But as things have developed, I’ve necessarily become more focused. For one thing, limited resources have sadly restricted my ability to help every animal I hear about who needs rescuing.

Some of our available dogs and cats were strays that I myself picked up. Others were animals from the local municipal pounds who were going to be destroyed simply because the pound was full or because the animal control officer was going on vacation. A couple of the dogs were injured and delivered to me by neighbors who didn’t know how to deal with the situation.

Our Adoption Procedures

Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog or a cat from WolfStone Ranch. By choosing adoption, you are saving a life!

To see our dogs or cats, you will need to make an appointment because we do not have regular viewing hours during which the general public can just drop by.

You can download either our Dog or Cat Adoption Application form, complete it and email it back to me. Or you can request that I mail you a copy of the appropriate form, to be mailed back to me.

After I have reviewed your application, I will consult with you about the dog or cat you’d like to adopt, and tell you more about him or her. I may then arrange for a home visit to help you be prepared to meet the dog’s or cat’s needs.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and have been tested for heartworm, Lyme disease and Ehrlichia.

All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. We also test for FIV and feline leukemia.

Every dog or cat adopted from WolfStone Ranch comes with our lifetime promise. If, for any reason, you can no longer care for your dog or cat, he or she is always welcome to come back to WolfStone Ranch.

We are asking for a donation of $150 for dogs and $75 for cats.

Please Note

WolfStone Ranch is a small, exclusive facility. We are not a typical shelter open to the general public. We do not accept owner surrenders because we are simply not set up to be that kind of rescue operation. Instead, we are able to take in only a small number of “unadoptable” shelter animals in need of intensive rehabilitation. Once we are able to adopt out one of these animals, we are then able to pull another “unadoptable” animal from one of the local shelters so that they can take in more animals in dire need of rescue. With this in mind, we suggest that you contact the Farmington Pet Adoption Center if you need to relinquish an animal (be it your own pet or a stray you’ve picked up). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
